The Washington Junior Nationals defeated the New Jersey Rockets by a 5-2 margin on Saturday, Dec. 2 at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Md., before the Rockets stormed back for a 4-2 victory on Dec. 3 to gain the split.
In Saturday night's victory, Shane Fendlay and Joey Demeria each scored a pair of goals and Brad Surdam added a goal and an assist.
The Nats record now stands at 16-10-0-1 in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League and 18-10-1-1 overall. The Junior Nationals remain home for Dec. 9-10 match-up with the league-leading New York Bobcats. Both games will be at The Gardens Ice House.
