I won’t take up this whole article talking about myself, but I do want you to think of a golf swing trainer in a different light after reading this.

You see…I’ve watched and read about the millions of golfers who are in search of the “silver bullet? The “magic pill?that will give them the perfect swing and the game they dream of. Well…it’s not out there! I hate to ruin the party, but there is no such thing.

There is hope!

I have spent the better part of 10 years studying the golf swing. And over 25 years in the field of fitness and exercise physiology. I have combined my two passions into the label of golf swing trainer.

It came to me one day when I was working with one of my personal golf clients. We were talking about his swing faults and I was prescribing golf stretches and exercises to eliminate the swing fault.

After just 4 sessions…his swing fault was gone! Completely! He was thrilled to say the least. He told me he had taken private golf lessons with 4 different golf teaching pros and couldn’t correct his golf swing fault.

When he explained it to me…it was obvious. It was a physical limitation that was not allowing his body to perform the prescribed technique all these teaching pros had told him he needed to do.

I was as thrilled as he was and now here I am. A golf swing trainer implementing golf exercises and stretches to eliminate golf swing faults. It’s the most effective way to permanently eliminate swing faults with minimal or now change in technique. The swing just falls into place when the body can perform at optimal strength and flexibility levels.

You heard it here first. Now I am quite confident you will hear more professionals in my field of expertise use it.

A golf swing trainer should have superior knowledge of the golf swing from a mechanical standpoint and physical standpoint. If one or the other is missing, then this individual isn’t a qualified professional that should be working on your golf swing.

So next time you hear this phrase…think of improving your body…not taking more lessons, buying the latest, greatest gimmicky training aid, or hitting more balls.

Golf courses

Dalmunzie Golf Club
This club is located in the heart of Perthshire, near Spittal of Glenshee. Dalmunzie Golf Club is a nine hole moorland course. This is the first choice for beginners and golfers who want to increase their skills. The golf course at Dalmunzie is not long ?actually it is only 2100 yards. The Golf course is surrounded by mountains on three sides with an abundant of wildlife on the course. Grouse, deers and even rabbits run wild on the moors.

Rosemount Golf Course
This golf course exists in history of golf in Scotland since 1889. Greg Norman have to be fond of this Perthshire peach, as he was the first Australian to win his first European Tour event here.
No doubt, it is one of the best inland courses. Fairways are bordered with troublesome trees and patches of heather. Accuracy is the key to play golf in Scotland.

Near to Rosemount course, there is Lansdowne Golf Course which was opened in 1977. It is the first priority for visitors who come to Blairgowrie to see Lansdowne.

Gleneagles – Kings Course
At Gleneagles, there are 3 golf courses. All golf courses are great but King’s Course is the best of all. Throughout the year, it is kept in perfect condition and it also shares the reputation of being the best inland course in Scotland.

There are 18 holes at Kings Course, each of them offer different type of golf – from drives to approach shots to elevated greens, elevated tees to cambered fairways, wickedly angled greens, sweeping plateau doglegs and much more.

Golf training and conditioning exercises are not as difficult as most people think they are. It is important to understand that these exercises are very different from many of the rigorous exercises that you will often see athletes using to condition their bodies and stay in shape.

It is important to understand that these exercises are very different from many of the rigorous exercises that you will often see athletes using to condition their bodies and stay in shape.

For example golf training exercises using weights are not designed to built bulky muscles. Usually much lighter weights will be used and will be lifted more times as opposed to normal muscle-building training which will involve much heavier weights being lifted fewer times. The muscle-building exercises will also call for longer hours of exercises daily. Golf training exercises will usually take very little time.

What is more is that many golf training stretch exercises can easily be carried out in your office, while still seated at your desk or work station. This means that even if you have the sort of schedule that leaves you with practically no time to spare, you can still find the time to put in some serious golf training exercises that will take your game of golf to another level that you have never known before.

There is plenty more evidence that golf training exercises are not as rigorous and difficult as some would want to believe. For example in my golf training exercise programs I have worked with very young and very old golfers with the same success. Youngsters will have difficulties taking in extremely rigorous exercises and so will senior citizens.

Golf training exercises are not designed to help prepare you for a record-breaking 100 meter dash down the track. Or for an Olympic gold medal in weight-lifting or gymnastics. The training schedule for these accomplishments naturally require lots of will power and discipline to even start.

Instead golf training exercises are usually very specific and are designed to impact particular aspects of your golf game.

The fact is, golf probably derived from other countries and stick and ball type games. However, while these are stick and ball games, they are missing that vital ingredient that is unique to golf. The hole. It was the Scots who introduced the golf hole into the game we now call golf.

Over the centuries, golf has evolved into the game it is today. The first recognizable form being played in Scotland in the early 1400′s. Andrews, Scotland is the birthplace of the game golf. Originating on the east coast of Scotland, golf quickly became the Scots’ national pastime and passion, bound forever to Scotland’s history and people.

According to Scottish lore, the people of Scotland believes that Golf was invented by Scottish fishermen to amuse themselves on the way home from fishing.

In 1457 golf was banned in Scotland because it interfered with the practice of archery, which was vital to the defense effort. The ban on golf had been issued in a time when Scotland was preparing to defend itself from the English. Scotland can say that they are the founding fathers in regards to the oldest golf course. It was in

Scotland that the passion for golf came alive. There is general agreement among historians and golf fans alike that the Scots were the first golfers who became somewhat addicted and passionate about the sport. In the very early days of golf, each golf group in Scotland produced their own and unique rules, which was sometimes the cause for interesting discussions. Golf is still a very popular game today in Scotland today.

The game of golf soon spread to areas outside of Scotland. In one form or another, the variant games of present day golf were clearly enjoyed throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. In fact in seventeenth century Dutch landscapes commonly show golf being played on ice. The game of golf began its destiny in time towards becoming popular around the world.

Being a good golfer requires a good level of fitness. Remember, there are 18 long holes you have to play! Thats a lot of walking, and swinging and carrying of your bags. If you really want to improve your score, enjoy the game more and in general feel fitter and healthier, then you need to conside golf resistance training. Regardless of your age, if you start to use resistance traiing on a regular basis, this can help you get into better shape and even help stave off disease.

For the golfers who want to add more power to their swing, whilst also giving their stamina and endurance a boost to complete all the 18 holes should consider resistance training, also known as strength training. This is also a great way to loosen up muscles, preventing injury whilst out there on the golf course. Resistance training simply involves lifting weights or working out with the resistance machines at a gym. If you want to, you can also do the resistance training at home, just by using everyday items that you already own.

To begin with, it is important that you speak with a doctor before undergoing any form of extra excercise. Put simply, resistance training, as previously described should be considered as “strong medicine”, if only because you could hurt yourself if you are unsure of what you’re doing or you aren’t sure of what level you should undertake when you are working out. Providing your doctor, once you have been checked out, gives you the go ahead, you have another important decision to make.

To join a gym or not to join a gym?

This problem can be solved very easily with a little leg work, so to speak. Find out where the gyms in your local area are situated, then try to visit each one of them. Most gyms will offer a free tour, possibly even a free workout to make sure that they offer the right facilities and equipment for your needs. By taking advantage of the different offers that each gym makes before you join, it will allow you to asses which, if any, is the right gym for you.

If you decide that you don’t feel comfortable joining a gym and wouldn’t like to be attending on a regular basis, or if you don’t want to be paying the monthly fees for the membership then you could also consider working out at home by doing the golf resistance training their instead.

You may want to make the initial one off investment of buying dumbbells and gym equipment that you could set up in a spare room, therefore eliminating the need for an ongoing monthly payment to the gym. To begin with, though, you may not even need to purchase any of these to do your resistance training.

One example of a great excercise for your legs involves just squatting down. This particularly, will work the backs of your legs. Using just the wall for support to lean against, or do it in the middle of the room if you so wish, for a harder work out. Start by placing your hands on your hips, your feet slightly apart, lining up directly under your shoulders.Lower your body down, as far as is comfortable or until your thighs are at a 90 degree angle to the floor, bending you knees, whilst keeping your back straight. Then push up slowly. Repeat until you feel it is starting to work the muscles in your legs.

Another resistance training excercise for golfers is to use a chair. Sit on the chair, scoot the front seat whilst keeping your back straight. Then with one foot firmly placed on the floor, straighten your other leg until it is now horizontal, stretched out, parallel to the ground. Now repeat this excercise with the other leg, giving both legs a thorough resistance training work out.

A simple resistance training excercise for your arms involves using just 2 cans or beans or soup, or what ever you have at home in your cupboards. Sitting on a chair, with your arms resting relaxed at your sides, a can in each hand, slowly raise your arms, in an arc like direction. Moving your arms upwards and outwards, stretched away from you, until they are now parallel with the ground, pointing away from your shoulders. Now slowly lower them down and repeat.

If you wanted to work both legs and arms at the same time. Simply do both squats and arm raises at the same time. Standing in the middle of the room, with your arms by your sides and a can in each arm, begin to squat as described earlier, whilst lowering your body down, being to raise your arms. This should result in your arms being parellel with the ground at the same moment as you are squated down. Slowly raise your body and lower your arms at the same time. This should also result in increased focus, co-ordination, as well as increased muscle strength.

If you haven’t, it means instead of having one golf training tip you think about during your swing, you think of 62 of them. Maybe not that many, but you think of enough to accomplish what they term “paralysis by analysis?

When this happens, your swing will go south real quick. This happened to the Number One ranked golfer in the world back in the 90′s. His name? Nick Faldo. He became so mechanically he couldn’t even hit a ball. He would enter a tournament and take so many practice swings, and not have one golf training tip on his mind, but many.

It took him right out of the world rankings and ultimately off the tour. He is now commentating and doing a great job.

Here’s a golf training tip that will help your backswing range of motion, enabling you to have a much higher clubhead speed and quickly improve your driving distance.

I call it the Backswing Shoulder Stretch:

* Extend left arm out in front of you (if you are a right handed golfer), in a handshake position, thumb pointing skyward.
*Take right hand and put under left wrist, so the back of the hands are touching each other.
* Pull with right hand against left wrist and make as big a turn on back swing as possible.
* Hold for at least 15 seconds, repeat two more times.
* Reverse the stretch to work the follow through.

As you can see this is a simple golf training tip, but one that is very effective if you do it consistently. This is a great stretch to do throughout your round to maintain a full backswing.

This is just one golf training tip that can have a big impact on your performance; and is well worth trying.

You’re just about ready to make the first step up onto the tee box and you’re feeling great. Golf shoes are looking good and comfortable. Freshly new pressed golf pants and shirt, and you’re feeling loose and limber, then all of a sudden this big dark cloud appears out of nowhere. You look down the fairway and all you see is water and trees and your asking yourself; how am I going to get this golf ball in the fairway?

You’re just about ready to make the first step up onto the tee box and you’re feeling great. Golf shoes are looking good and comfortable. You look down the fairway and all you see is water and trees and your asking yourself; how am I going to get this golf ball in the fairway?

I think we have all been there before. The all-important golf shot of the day. This all important golf shot typically sets the pace for the rest of the round mentally. Nobody wants to start off with a bogey or double bogey. Par or better is so important on this first golf hole. The thoughts of anything else keep racing through your mind. The fairway becomes narrower. The trees look like the branches are reaching out into the fairway. The small running creek looks more like a lake before you. The bogeyman is near! If you stand on the tee box any longer at this point, and even in the sweltering heat you may visualize a snowman. Yikes!!! The worst possible start of a long eighteen!

How do we overcome this big shadow of fear that seems to take over our golf swing from time to time? Do you tee it up and hope for the best? Maybe your golf buddy will stand up tall and go first if he’s any kind of friend? Just maybe the easy way out through this jungle would be take a 7 iron and punch it down the fairway. At least you don’t have to take that big ugly swing that may put you in the thick woods of no return. With three good punch shots you might just able to get it close enough to save par?

Let’s not kid ourselves. The golf swing has to happen. The golf club selection is an important one at this point, especially if your knees are feeling weak. You may want to take your favorite wood or long iron that you’re more confident with on this important golf shot.

Walk away from this monster looking view and regain your composure by looking the other way. The most important thing to do when feeling negative is to step back off the tee box and gather your thoughts and hold onto the positive pictures, perhaps by taking some deep breaths and swinging the opposite way. I find that by swinging in the opposite direction, my mind does not pick up any negative thoughts, possibly because I know that there is no hazard in front of me, because I’m golfing the opposite direction. Make any sense?

After you have released all the horrible pictures you have visualized earlier, step back onto the tee box and take a deep breath and release it slowly standing behind the ball. Look down the middle of the fairway and look for a spot on the fairway that you want the ball to land. Visualize the ball landing on that particular spot that you picked out. Step up to the golf ball and take one more look and start the golf swing with a smooth takeaway and accelerated swing through the ball as if you’re playing with a crowd watching along the sidelines.

Your mind will create the golf swing to make the golf shot happen, only if you are relaxed and focusing on the golf swing you are creating mentally. It’s a phenomenon that I cannot explain, but it works.

I guess it goes with the old saying. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe. It will achieve! Positive thoughts bring positive results. Step away from the golf ball when having negative thoughts. It could be too late, halfway through your golf swing.

Tips for setup:

First of all I’d just like to say that there is no one correct putting grip/posture/stroke, there are wide variations, so if your technique is different, don’t worry, some of the top golfers have very different putting actions e.g. Bernhard Langer, Ben Crenshaw and Tom Watson all have very different techniques. These are basic tips that can be applied to most techniques to help improve your game.

An ideal putting stroke should strike the ball on the up, to do this the ball should be placed opposite the inside of the left heal (for a right hander), this results in the ball being hit on the up and top spin is generated.

In relation to setup, the hands should be either inline with the ball or ahead of the ball, if the hands are behind the ball, then a clean consistent strike of the ball is not likely, and the common result is the ball popping up in the air.

Tension on the green is one the most destructive things that can happen to your putting, especially with the short putts, this is known as getting the ‘yips? this is caused by moving during the stroke. This causes you to ‘fluff?your shot and miss your putt. To avoid this happening, concentrate on the spot where the ball was after impact rather than following the ball. This ensures that you do not move your head during impact and will help give you the clean smooth impact you require.

A simple technique to reduce the tension in the body and the stroke is simply to let your arms dangle in front of you before you putt and gently shake them. This should relax your muscles enabling an enhanced sensation of feel and touch, both vital for reliable consistent putting.

Tips for the swing

Your grip should not be too tight, and your arms should be relaxed. Gently and smoothly in a one piece action, sweep the putter backwards. It is important to keep the triangle formed between your arms and the line joining your shoulders consistent through the whole shot and the shape should not change. The move backwards should be like a pendulum movement with your arms, while your wrists remain stiff. A good tip for making sure that this is correct is by starting the action by dropping your left shoulder; this will get the pendulum motion started.

Keeping the triangle mentioned before in tact, in a pendulum motion, accelerate the putter smoothly through the ball; the ball should be hit on the up. Throughout this whole period, keep your eyes fixed on the ball to avoid fluffing the putt and keep the eyes fixed on that spot after impact.
