This article explore the things a golf course manager should do to ensure that a lawn mower or cart will start up when winter is over and the equipment gets used again.
golf cart small engines, small engine rebuild kit, small engines
Small engine vehicles, like golf carts, lawn mowers and trucksters, need the same care and maintenance as a car or truck. Owners tend to forget that putting a golf cart or mower away for the winter requires the same care as if you were planning to store a vehicle for an extended amount of time. Too often carts are stored away in some corner of the garage without much thought given to how well they will start up when the weather improves. Golf cart owners figure that hiding them away in a shed or garage, clear from the winter elements is sufficient. Not quite. Even if your golf cart or mower is new, they still require some maintainance. In fact, getting them to start up trouble-free from season to season requires you follow a few points of due-diligence.

First, gather up the equipment you will need to properly put your golf cart in storage for the winter. This equipment includes a wrench, a few bottles of distilled water, some cleaning rags, gloves for you, goggles for your eyes, a hydrometer (it measures the gravity of the electrolyte solution) and a voltmeter (to measure voltage). You may want to throw in some baking soda and vaseline as well.

The following are measures you can take to ensure your golf cart or course mower starts up again as spring comes around.

1. Read the manufacturer’s maintenance guide
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Don’t try to tinker with the small engine if you’ve never handled one before. If you notice anything unusual, take your golf cart or mower to the nearest dealer for an inspection. Don’t wait until spring to have your small engine checked.

2. Remove the battery
Before storing your golf mower or cart for the winter, remove the battery and disconnect it from the battery cable. Store your battery in a safe place, away from heated elements, gas or furnace. Wipe it clean and brush off the battery terminal with a metal brush. Check for any cracks or borken elements. If the manufacturer recommends special cleaning solutions for your battery, give it a good cleaning before putting it away. If there are no spcial instructions, distilled water should do the trick. Avoid using corrosive cleaning chemicals. Most golf cart or mower problems are due to poorly maintained batteries.

3. Store in a safe, covered location
Store your golf cart or mower away from heaters, furnaces and gas containers. Also ensure that it is not place near any open windows where water damage may occur.

4. Put it away clean
Clean your cart or mower before storing it. Wash off any leaves, grass, residual soil, dried or wet mud, and moisture pockets from both the main exterior and underneath. Wipe off grass and dirt from around the blade using a long-handled brush – Do not use your bare hands! When you clean your mower, unplug the spark plug lead wire, wind it up gently and tape it together.

5. Remove remaining fuel
You should finish off any fuel that is remaining in your tank (if it uses fuel) or add a fuel preserver before storage. Read the instructions for the fuel preserver carefully before using. After adding it plug your mower or cart and let the engine run for a few minutes. This should give the fuel preserver enough time to go through the carburetor. One good thing about fuel preservers (also called stabilizers) is that they keep the fuel fresh in the engine for as long as half a year. You can now turn off the engine.

Follow these simple steps for storage and your golf cart or mower will start up in a snap.

How to find the right golf equipment that will work for you. Invest in the proper golf equipment and shed strokes off your game immediately.
Callaway golf clubs, golf club components, golf club clones
If you are looking for information pertaining to Callaway golf clubs, golf club components, golf club clones or any other brand or form of golf equipment, you will find it very helpful to read on. Nowadays, there are many factors to consider when trying to find the ideal golf equipment for you. Whether it is a driver, fairway woods, irons, golf bags, golf balls or any other golf equipment accessory, we all have different preferences and needs. Every person is unique, and every swing is different from player to player. For instance, a golfer with a fast swing will achieve better results with a stiffer shaft as opposed to a softer shaft. The problem that many people encounter when shopping for golf equipment such as Callaway golf clubs, golf club components, golf club clones or any other piece of golf equipment, is that there are so many choices and features available that it is difficult for the average person to know where to begin, or where exactly to begin looking, for that matter.

Those are not the only things that come into play when seeking golf equipment such as Callaway golf clubs, golf club components, golf club clones or any other form of golf equipment. It can get very complicated if you happen to get into specifics such as “center of gravity” in the clubhead, and what effect it will have on your shot depending on where it is located within the clubhead. And we do recommend you do get into those “specifics” to acieve the best possible results with the equipment you happen to choose. Depending on the level of player you are, you may want to leave the “specifics” to the pros. Go to a pro-shop and try an assortment of brands and models, and be sure to ask one of the salesmen to help you find which type of clubheads, shafts and golf balls are best suited for your type of swing. If you don’t know what type of swing you have, have him watch you swing a few times. Most of the time, salesmen in golf proshops are very knowledgeable when it comes to the fundamentals of golf and golf equipment.

They will be able to help you dramatically. One thing they may not be able to help you with however, is a price to suit your budget.

This is why we recommend you do your research, go to pro-shops, golf equipment shops, and do what ever you have to do to find the particular pieces of golf equipment like Callaway golf clubs, golf club components, golf club clones and all golf equipment needs, then make you purchases on the internet. Internet shopping is becoming more and more popular. Why, you ask.

People are becoming more aware of the great deals on the internet due to the fact that the middlemen are eliminated in the process, or that huge stock must be cleared to make room for new arrivals. There is an abundance of website merchants offering prices so low that stores just cannot compete with, and they usually carry a much wider selection of goods. So if you are the type of person who likes brand names, you will have no trouble at all finding equipment with BIG names such as Callaway, Nike, Cleveland Golf, Titleist, Ping, Orlimar and TaylorMade, to name a few. You may also be interested in having a look at some alternatives such as clone golf clubs.

These are golf clubs made to the specs of all your favorite top brands, and usually the only differences are the name on the club and the price. This is a great way to pay even less, and still get what you want and deserve, as long as you don’t mind a different brand name.

Good luck shopping for your favorite golfing needs, and try to make it a learning experience.

Remember, your knowledge on golf eqipment can result in a surprising improvement in your game.

Little things like a basic understanding of why a ball reacts the way it does when coming off the clubhead can make it easier to work on your swing. So, know what’s best suited for You before you buy, and you’ll be on your way to a much more enjoyable round of golf for years to come.

Playing a chip shot from the fringe of a green versus putting through the fringe can be a little confusing for the average golfer. A lot of golfers choose to putt for the fear of not being able to control the distance of a chip shot around a green, and lets not talk about choking a chip shot. More often than not the confidence lies in the ability to putt the ball. When do you decide to chip instead of putt?

A quick review of some your options will help in the decision process. The circumstances have to be right to putt the ball. Here are some golf tips to consider and several situations to help your decision on choosing to chip the golf ball rather than electing to putt.

You may want to chip in these circumstances.

(1)Wet grass or thick grass.

The moisture or thickness of the grass is going to slow up the ball considerably, therefore weight of putt has to be determined to get it through the grass, and once you get it rolling on the green, the weight of putt it took you to get it through the fringe may not be enough or too much distance for the golf hole. In this circumstance there is too much weight control to consider.

(2)A very wet or slow green.

Chipping the golf ball will take a lot of moisture out of play, and a slow green forces you to swing harder with a putter to get the golf ball up to the hole, when the art of putting should call for a soft touch.

(3)Long grass and uphill to the hole.

You have to hit it harder to get it through the grass with a putter and up to the hole. Eliminate the chance of getting the golf ball caught up in the grass by chipping out and over.

(4)Over 7 feet of grass between golf ball and start of green, and hole is beyond center of green.

Chipping over the grass will eliminate slowing the golf ball up if you have a lot of green to work with.

(5)Hole is beyond center of green and more than 20 feet.

The odds are higher on getting the golf ball beyond 20 feet with a chipper versus a putter.

(6)Sprinkler system directly in front of line to golf hole or other obstacle that will affect the roll of golf ball.

Eliminate possible deflection of golf ball by chipping over the obstacle.

(7)Too much rolling terrain in the first 1/3 distance to the hole.

Taking most of the rolling green out of play by chipping over will give you a lot less rolling green to read unless you are very good at reading greens.

You have the ultimate decision on your ability to play any one of these golf club selections in these circumstances, but there is a good reason to think about these circumstances before you choose the club. I hope some of these golf tips will help in your decision process, and your goal to save strokes.

Great Places To Play Golf In November

Great Places To Play Golf n November
Many golfers in northern climates may think the season is over. Or at least until that next business trip or Thanksgiving vacation. Living in Colorado, I’ve played in all types of conditions to quench my thirst for the links. Since I can’t guarantee when that one sunny November day in the Twin Cities or Boston will be I’ve limited my suggestions to warmer climates.

There are three reasons why golf in November is ideal.

First, rates are cheaper. In Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun, it’s early season and greens fees are still good. You can play while visiting retired parents. If there are a couple of famed courses on your must play-before-I-die list, November is the time to look for more affordable rates.

Second, golf courses are not as busy. Peak tourist season has not hit Panama City or Orlando. So you won’t have to spend half your time sitting in a golf cart.

Third, the weather is better. In Miami it’s after hurricane season. Courses haven’t been hacked up and the winter grass has come in. Hotel rates are very reasonable, too. When playing golf in New Orleans you won’t have to wring out your clothes after you get off the course. Humidity is down, course conditions are perfect.

And don’t forget San Francisco and its famously bizarre weather patterns. Tee off in early November and you may think its June anywhere else. Courses may be a little dry, but the fog has cleared. Houston, like New Orleans and Atlanta, boasts low humidity and perfect course conditions.

A course that has been very popular lately in the Houston area is Longwood Golf Club in Cypress, Texas. They just completed redeveloping the Post Oak 9 and you’ve got to get out and play it. Designed by former touring pro Keith Fergus and Harry Yewens, this Houston area 27-holer is rated among the top five daily fee courses in the Houston area.

San Antonio is good in November for all three reasons. Average November high temperature is 71 degrees and San Antonio city leaders are aggressively courting golf vacationers to visit their courses. To compete with golf destinations like Myrtle Beach, Phoenix and Scottsdale, San Antonio combines classy courses with skimpy green’s fees.

Check out La Cantera Palmer Course, outside of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country. Designed by Arnold Palmer, this course has two signature holes. The first is hole #7, The Rattler, featuring a rattlesnake-shape bunker on the left side and a cliff side tee shot eighty-feet above the fairway. The second is hole #12, where the green is guarded by a natural waterfall and creek.

November also is Thanksgiving month. The four-day weekend provides a great opportunity to get away with the family or your buddies for 36 holes. And you’ll be back in time to shovel snow on Sunday.

Orlando has challenging courses in the shadow of the Disney kingdom. This is an ideal locale to combine family time and golf time. Celebration (near Disney and Kissimee) is an upscale daily-fee resort course that exudes an atmosphere of beautiful tranquil, fun and challenging golf in Orlando. Conveniently located in Kissimmee near I-4 and just off Hwy. 192, you’ll never know you’re in the heart of Orlando’s tourist district and only minutes away from Disney World.

And if you’re in Afghanistan this November it is easy to find a course as there is only one. The Kabul Golf Club course has no grass and is billed as a desert-style course. The greens are called “browns”, a tightly packed combination of oil and sand. The owner refuses to close the nine-hole course despite the fact they have only seven golf balls and it’s in the middle of a country with one of the lowest GDP’s in the world. “People need to play golf,” he said. And how!

People do need to play golf. This November, get out there and hit few and have fun.

Here is a golf workout tip that you can afford to ignore at your own peril.

Even as more and more golfers get into golf-exercises and physical training programs, many do not realize how important warming up is.

A valuable golf workout tip to take note of is the fact that it is imperative to warm up before exercises or getting to the course to start taking swings at the golf ball.

What this golf workout tip does for you is to ensure that you do not start straining your muscles when they are cold. There are two things that can happen to anybody who ignores this golf workout tip.

Firstly it is easy to pick up an injury that will hinder your progress in the game for a long time to come. One of the most dreaded injuries in golf is the golfer elbow.

The second inevitable result is that even if you are lucky to escape injury despite not warming up, you will find yourself performing well below par. Your muscles will tend to be still very stiff and even performing a good golf swing will be very difficult indeed.

Yet performing warm exercises and thus fulfilling this golf workout tip need not be so difficult. There are wide ranges of different warm up exercises you can perform that will hardly take up any time.

For example you can walk briskly from your car to the course and if the distant is rather short, you can quickly walk back to your car and then back to the course again. Make sure that you exert as much effort as possible into your brisk walk.

You can then do some brief stretch exercises before you start swinging at the golf ball.

This is a golf workout tip that should help any golfer tremendously in efforts to improve their game.

If you’ve been thinking about taking up golf, or if you’re a golfer in search of a better game, you may have considered golf lessons. But are golf lessons really beneficial? And how do you find a pro who will offer good advice?

There are some who swear that lessons are vital and others who say that practice is the only thing that will improve your golf game. The truth seems to lie somewhere in the middle. But before you drop your coach or sign up for lessons, consider what it is that you hope golf lessons will accomplish. Outlining your goals may help you decide whether you truly need lessons or simply more time on the course.

If you play with others who play exceptionally well, you may want to find someone to give you some help with your game. Whether that’s a paid coach or merely a friend who plays well is strictly a personal choice. Getting some pointers and tips may be a good way to ensure that you don’t totally embarrass yourself in front of other players.

If you’re serious about the game, you’ve probably been involved long enough that you don’t need advice on whether to get a coach. But if you’ve only recently discovered the joy of golfing, you may find yourself looking for a way to improve your game. Golf lessons could very well be the answer.

Some people say that lessons give them a set time to practice and an opportunity to completely focus on the game. You’ll typically be less interrupted than if you were playing on your own, stopping to chat with friends along the way. But others say the simple fact of having someone scrutinizing every move and offering constant advice is more distracting than helpful. Decide whether you’re one of those who accept direction and works well in that situation. That’s a major clue as to whether golf lessons are a good idea.

Remember that a golf coach’s job is to teach you to golf correctly. That means that there are some habits that he (or she) will be trying to ingrain and others they’ll be trying to break. While golfing correctly is a terrific goal, many golfers have some bad habits that they tout as benefiting their game. Changing your grip, adjusting your stance or even using different equipment may be among the “must do?list from your coach. You may resist those changes. You have two options. You can do your best to follow the instructions, or you can explain that you aren’t planning to change that particular habit. If you don’t plan to change, you may need to reexamine your decision to take lessons. Without following directions, lessons may become a waste of time and effort on both parts, and money on yours.

Golf lessons are great for some people. It’s a personal decision whether you are one of those who will benefit from a coach ?formal or informal. But remember that the most important thing to improve your golf game is simply practice.

Golf swing tips are rampant! Golfers can’t get enough of them. But are they working…or are they adding to the confusion and frustration of your game? Many qualified instructors will tell you to stay away from all the golf swing tips in the golf magazines.

Why?

Because it causes “paralysis-by-analysis!?
What I mean is you get on the course and you are thinking too much about your golf swing mechanics and not enough about getting the ball in the fairway, onto the green, and in the hole!

We also call this the ?2-point checklist?

I’m here to tell you that golf swing tips by themselves will NEVER work! I know…this is a very strong statement, but I feel very strong about this.

How many times have you received a tip from a golf instructor, golfing buddy or out of a magazine…only to try it and play worse?

Come on…be honest!

I can tell you right now that it’s your BODY that won’t allow you to apply this golf swing tip. Your brain knows what to do…and wants to do it, but your body CAN’T perform it!

Your heard it right here! Your BODY can’t do it! This is the missing link to your best golf ever!

Work on the machine (you) and the golf swing tips or mechanics you so yearn to do will magically happen. I’ve seen it hundreds of times with the golfers I’ve worked with.

I have literally taken someone off the practice tee, given them a stretch and they step right up and nail the ball long and right in the middle of the range. They become instant believers!

There is no magical golf swing tip that’s going to change your game!

Golf swing mechanics are critical, and the “only?way to achieve them is to reduce your own personal physical limitations. This is not an overnight fix, but one that will last the rest of your golfing career.

Wouldn’t it be nice to step up to the tee and know without a doubt you’re going to be the longest (and straightest) hitter in your foursome? How about shooting the lowest score and taking all the money?

This is a reality if…you work on your machine (body), ‘off the course?to play better on the course.

Then… and only then will all those golf swing tips work!

It is no secret that most of the male and female tour players who want to play their best golf, do golf weight training exercises. But it’s not the kind of grueling, sweating stuff you’re thinking about.

There is a HUGE misconception of what and how this type of program should be done. It does not take going into a gym and lifting heavy weights; nor does it take a 2-3 hour daily commitment.

I have seen many “so-called?golf weight training programs, books, and videos etc that do in fact show the golfer in the gym and on machines. Sitting on a machine, isolating one muscle group is not golf-specific or sport-specific for that matter.

Golf is a dynamic movement done on your feet. Sitting in a machine in a “controlled?environment will not improve your swing.

The golf swing incorporates most of the muscles of the body in a sequential motion. I hope you can now see sitting in a machine won’t improve that.

So what truly is a ‘golf-specific?program?

For starters, doing a lot of exercise ‘on your feet?and in your golf posture will help. The more you can get in your posture and strength train, the quicker the benefit to your game.

Golf also involves balance and stabilization. To improve this takes a concentrated effort on core work and exercises involving balance (such as one-legged exercises).

The more popular golf-exercises are done on a stability ball; using exercise tubing; handweights; and even weighted medicine balls.

This allows you to do many dynamic movements similar to your golf swing, directly relating to more power, distance and accuracy.

These pieces of equipment are very inexpensive and portable. You can have a complete golf fitness gym in your home for under $100 easily.

For example, exercise tubing is approximately $20 and you can immediately do golf swings with it. This is as golf-specific as you can get. Doing your actual movement with resistance will dramatically increase your power output.

There are dozens of simple, golf weight training exercises you can do with the above equipment (and in your home). The beauty of this type of golf training is saving time and money, but most importantly making it fun and enjoyable.

When you do these types of golf weight training exercises you will be encouraged that it will be the missing link to your best game.

Often, we try to get on the fitness, weight-loss bandwagon, only to quit after just a week or so. With the above type of training, your doing both. You not only see a dramatic improvement in your game, but the icing on the cake is looking and feeling better.

I have worked with hundreds, if not thousands of golfers via the web who have sent me emails stating how they have stuck with their programs longer than any other time in their life. They say the connection between health and golf is what did it.

So don’t get overwhelmed the next time you here about golf weight training. With a little research, you can be doing your golf weight training program in your home in no time.
