Recreational golfer or pro, positive changes in your diet will help give your body the fuel it needs for a consistent and powerful round of golf.

Many golfers don’t give much thought to the fact that nutrition can play a major role in their golf performance both on and off the course. Three simple rules to follow that will help bring you better performance are: 1) Eat 5 or 6 small meals during the day rather than 2 or three larger meals. 2) Eat every couple of hours to keep your metabolism increased and your energy levels constant. 3) Make balanced choices containing some carbohydrates, proteins and fat.

It’s a good idea to prepare for your round of golf by eating beforehand. If you eat two to three hours before the round, eat a snack containing carbohydrates approximately 300-400 calories. If the meal is four hours before play consume approximately 500-600 calories. Stay away from lots of sugars as it can affect your endurance.

It’s also very important to consider hydration during play. Fluid replacement during a round is very important especially if the weather is hot and windy. Keep water handy as you play. If food is not consumed during play, your body has nothing for 5 or 6 hours. Combine this with exercise and low fluid intake and you’ll have a situation that may cause a drop in your blood sugar. This can greatly affect your brain function and skill.

You want enough energy to allow you to finish your round strong and not depleted. If you find yourself low on energy by the 16th hole, your food intake could be the culprit. Golf demands a lot both physically and mentally. Your body needs a good balance of protein and carbohydrates for optimum function. Use the foods you eat as fuel to gain the competitive advantage you’re looking for.

Unless you have 8 hours a day to work on your golf swing like the pros have, you will not be able to achieve that ultimate goal of consistent performance. The golf swing technique of today has become so complicated, that golfers are “paralyzed by over-analysis?

I’ve heard some great analogies lately!

How about walking? Would we think of every biomechanical movement in every joint of our body when we walk? I don’t think so. If that happened, we’d have a lot of frustrated, immobile people out there.

The same thing holds true with golf. Having a basic understanding of how to hit the ball to your chosen target is critical, but after that, you shouldn’t have to think of 30 different things to swing the club to make this happen.

The end goal in golf is to get your ball to a target as accurately as you can, and then get it in the hole. With that being said, why are so many golfers not improving? The answer and solution are quite easy.

It’s what I say more than a dozen times every day to golfers. “It’s your body that swings the club, not the other way around?

Your swing is only as good as your current ‘physical?capabilities. Don’t you think that makes sense? I meanÂ…if your body is tight (inflexible), do you think you’ll be able to make a nice full backswing with minimal tension? No way! That’s a physical impossibility.

The ONLY way to be able to achieve optimal swing mechanics with minimal effort is to improve your body’s ability to reach these physical points in the golf swing consistenly. Whether it’s a 90 degree shoulder turn, or hips slightly open with your head stationary behind the ball at impact.

It makes total sense to break down the swing fault you are currently dealing with and look at the physical requirement needed from your body. The more involved I get with improving golf performance, the more interested I’m getting in the biomechanics of the golf swing and how to improve them with the physical approach (both strength and flexibility).

I’ve seen dramatic results from members of my websites and customers of my golf improvement products, which tells me this is the way to improve your golf swing the quickest. I’ve had golfers literally tell me they wish they would have taken this approach 20 years ago!

Putting has a huge part of this game, it is the part that finishes all what you have done before, therefore a great drive and a wonderful iron swing will not be enough to get that small white ball to that small hole, this will be achieved by putting, and if executed well enough, you will consistently have a “two putt?game, which means that you will get your ball close enough to the hole on your first putting attempt, and that you will finish it off by putting your second try into the hole.

This is exactly why you should realize how important it is to get better in putting and better in understanding the powers that make a great putter. While confidence and swing trust are something that can be achieved and practiced without the use of a golf ball, a putter, or anything actually, a good, consistent putting can definitely be achieved by regular practice and commitment to get better.

That is why putting is the first thing you should think about when you start thinking of expanding you golfing to beyond your club, or the local golf course. If you will practice putting a few times a week, in you home or in your office, you will probably discover that you have a much better approach to putting altogether, and that you find it easier to putt and score.

Consistent rehearsal of your rhythm, you putter swing and some of the tips and tricks you learn, will ultimately give you a winning advantage over your less committed golfing friends, understand your putt and you will not arrive at the green with fears and anxieties towards that dreaded four putt.

While putting is much less glamorous than other aspects of golf, and while most men love to invest all their time and energy into making that small white ball fly a long distance and spend as much time as possible in the air, putting is what gets you results, lowers your handicap and allows you to enjoy the game more, any player that improves his putting discovers that golf has many other sides to it other than the mechanics of a swing and power of following through.

The rules of golf are relatively simple once you know them, but they take a while to explain. If you’re not even sure of the basics, read this: the object of the game is to hit your ball from the start (tee) of each of the 18 sections of the course (holes) into the hole itself. The hole is situated on a particularly short and well-maintained piece of grass (the green), and once you’re on the green you must use a putter (a club with a slab-like end) instead of a normal golf club.

Each one of the holes has a certain target number of shots, known as the par. On a par 4 hole, for example, you are trying to get the ball into the hole in four shots or fewer. If you take exactly that number of shots, you have scored par. One under par is a birdie, while two under is an eagle. Three under is very rare, and is called an albatross ?it is only possible if you get the ball in the hole with two shots on a par 5 hole. The best score of all, however, is a hole in one, which is when you hit the ball straight from the tee into the hole.

By the same token, if you don’t make par, there are special words for that too. One over par is a bogey, while two over par is a double bogey, and so on. If you ever go over 12 shots, you forfeit the hole, and have to move on to the next one.

Along the way, though, you will have to deal with various hazards. If you hit the ball into long grass (the rough), you might find it very hard to get out again, and trees are also often placed on courses to make them more difficult. The worst hazards are ponds and lakes, as hitting the ball into one will cost you both the shot you just took and an extra one shot penalty, making it very difficult to even reach par on that hole.
